Creating community, whether in my studio or in my home, brings me immense joy. I have a natural inclination to share what I know; maybe even a little too much sometimes! My love for nurturing extends beyond the studio into my kitchen, where I enjoy cooking, and my downtime, often spent lost in movies (almost conquered Netflix, now tackling Prime!). With a lifelong passion for dance, from childhood through my first business as a dance company, movement and connection are deeply ingrained in who I am. While I thrive in these shared spaces, I also cherish my quiet moments for recharging, ready for the next opportunity to build community and share my love of Pilates, the MELT Method and other modalities connected to wellness. I look forward to meeting you.

I feel very lucky to do what I love and make my passion my profession. My day job is in IT, and I love all about technology, gadgets, and solving complex problems with it. I started to do Pilates over 8 years ago as a complete newbie with no background in dancing or any other sports activities. To be honest, I even skipped gym workouts pretty often. And I loved it! Completely selfishly, I went through a Pilates teacher training with Kim to get a more advanced level of Pilates. And here I am. I love teaching and share the benefits of Pilates with others. I live in Hell’s Kitchen long enough to call it my home. I love the community and people here. It feels good to open the studio in my neighborhood. I’m also a new mom to my puppy, Lucky. He’ll assist me in my classes sometimes. Looking forward to seeing you in the studio!

  • I bring a spontaneous, fun, and undeniably challenging energy to my teaching. After a long career as a contemporary dancer; you might even spot me ballroom dancing in a few movies with HK Pilates co-founder Kim V!  I've spent nearly a decade sharing my movement wisdom with actors at NYU Tisch Drama. Now, with almost two decades of Pilates teaching under my belt, I'm also a certified MELT instructor. So, whether I'm channeling my inner indie author, frustrated comic, or wannabe podcaster, you can bet my classes will keep you on your toes! It may be the most authentic core workout you'll get from all of the belly laughs I will provide!!

This journey, combined with learning from industry leaders like Sue Hitzmann (MELT Method®), Lisa Wheeler, Robert Steinbacher (bodyART), and my nursing background, fuels my dedication to helping you achieve your full potential, whether it's running a marathon, dancing on Broadway, or simply living pain-free. I specialized in teaching the MELT Method, pilates, corrective exercise, and barre. As a co-owner of REVIVE Restorative Retreats, I offer transformative wellness experiences both internationally and in NYC. • For me, Pilates is more than exercise—it's a journey of understanding how bodies move and what they can achieve. With comprehensive classical training since 2012 and a decade of teaching movement in the NYC public school system, I bring a unique perspective to my classes. My personal experience with Pilates during pregnancy has fueled my specialization and passion in pre/postnatal work. Outside the studio, I'm a Brooklyn mom of two boys, a lover of pizza, a spectator at the playground, and a fan of solo dining, documentaries, and a good dance.

  • Originally a sunny San Diegan now living on the UWS, I've been sharing my passion for Pilates for seven years with all sorts of amazing clients. Before finding my way to the mat, I had a blast as an actor and singer, performing in Tokyo, on cruise ships, and even with Disney! When I'm not in the studio, you can usually find me reading in the sun or hanging out with my two adorable dogs, Penny the dachshund and Arwen the rescue mix. I truly believe in the power of Pilates to connect your mind and body, and while I love the Classical Method, I also enjoy weaving in some contemporary moves to create a workout that leaves you feeling both strong and restored. Pilates is for everyone, and I can't wait to move with you! Oh, and my guilty pleasure? Reality dating shows – don't tell anyone!

  • I was introduced to Pilates while studying Modern Dance at Texas Christian University as I was dealing with a chronic back injury. Within two months of taking Pilates classes twice weekly, my injury healed, my core became stronger, and I felt like myself again! Since then, I have dived deep into Pilates pedagogies, psycho-therapies, and somatic therapies - all connecting the mind, body, and spirit. As a certified Pilates instructor and registered dance/movement therapist, I bring an empathetic and holistic approach to moving with each person. Outside of the Pilates studio, I am a professional dancer and singer paving my path towards Broadway! Hell's Kitchen is my home and I am excited to share Pilates with fellow Hell's Kitchen residents.

  • My passion in life revolves around art, healthy living, and various sports. From a young age, I've explored different athletic pursuits, with a particular focus on competitive cross-country and downhill skiing, as well as ballroom dance. While I've tried many sports, Pilates has become a true love and passion of mine. I've even introduced it to my teenage sons and friends, who've discovered its benefits firsthand. I firmly believe that a healthy, active lifestyle is key to a happier, more fulfilling life.

ABOUT PILATES

Pilates is a method of physical and mental exercise involving stretches and breathing that focus on strengthening the abdominal core. It was developed by Joseph Pilates in 1920s and originally called "Contrology" emphasizing the harmonious connection between mind and body. By engaging deep stabilizing muscles and promoting mindful movement, Pilates goes beyond traditional exercise to cultivate improved posture, balance, flexibility, and overall body awareness. It's a sophisticated approach to fitness that empowers you to move with greater efficiency and ease in your daily life.

The Pilates method is guided by six principles that enhance its effectiveness.

  • Centering: Engaging your deep core muscles (abdominals, back, pelvic floor) as the foundation for all movement.

  • Concentration: Paying close mental attention to each exercise to ensure proper form and muscle activation.

  • Control: Performing movements with deliberate muscle engagement, avoiding relying on momentum.

  • Precision: Focusing on accuracy and correct alignment in each exercise for optimal results.

  • Breath: Coordinating your inhales and exhales with the movements to support efficiency and flow.

  • Flow: Moving smoothly and continuously from one exercise to the next, creating a fluid sequence.

By consistently engaging in Pilates, you'll not only develop a stronger core but also enhance your coordination, reduce the risk of injury, and cultivate a deeper understanding of your body's potential.

Joe’s Gym Membership

Imagine stepping into Joseph Pilates' original studio, located at 939 Eighth Avenue in the vibrant Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. It was a place where, after initial guidance and a few sessions to grasp the fundamentals, clients often engaged in their own focused practice, much like one would in a traditional gym.

Our "Joe's Gym" membership echoes that spirit of empowered self-practice, right here in Hell’s Kitchen. Currently, this option provides access to our studio for your independent mat work and use of props, guided by audio-only workouts available through our exclusive my Pilates App – supporting your self-directed sessions after you've familiarized yourself with the basics.

Plus, enjoy a significant 50% discount on all regularly scheduled classes!

Starting in June 2025, this membership will expand to include access to our Reformers and Chair, further enhancing your self-guided practice. .
