FAQ

I am a total beginner to Pilates. What class should I take?
If you're new, we suggest beginning with a private session. It's the best way to get familiar with the equipment and have the experience tailored to your needs.
If private sessions aren’t your thing right now, our REFORMER Class is a great place to start. You can also join a Mat Class to build strength and learn foundational Pilates movements. -
What do I need to wear?
Wear comfortable clothes that let you move freely, like leggings, fitted shorts, or a tank top. Grippy socks are required for all classes.
-
How do I book a private session?
Interested in Privates or Duets? Start by filling out our intake form — we’ll be in touch shortly!
To book your session:
Fill out the intake form with your availability and preferences.
Create an account with HK Pilates.
Purchase your Private or Duet credits through our website.

-
How does the pricing work for Duet sessions?
Duet sessions are priced per person. This means that duet packages are sold individually — one credit equals one person.
Since duet sessions are always taken with a partner, each person must purchase their own duet credit
-
What is your cancellation policy?
You’ll need to cancel at least 24 hours before the start of your class or session to avoid being charged. Cancellations made within 24 hours will be charged the full session fee.
-
How often should I do Pilates?
At HK Pilates, we believe movement is meant to feel good — and consistency is what helps you feel your best!
We recommend practicing 2–3 times a week to build strength, improve flexibility, and keep your body moving with ease. Even once a week can make a difference, especially if you’re just getting started.
Our team is here to help you find a routine that fits your lifestyle and keeps you feeling strong, supported, and connected — both in class and beyond.
-
Will you give me a partner for Duet sessions?
We don’t assign duet partners — all duet sessions need to be booked with your partner in advance.
You’ll need to coordinate with your partner before scheduling, as HK Pilates does not pair clients for duet sessions.
-
Can I do Pilates if i'm pregnant?
Yes! Pilates is a wonderful way to stay active, strong, and supported during pregnancy.
Just make sure to check with your doctor first, and let your instructor know you’re expecting so we can offer safe modifications. Many clients find Private Sessions especially helpful for personalized, prenatal-friendly movement.
We also offer MAMA’s Pilates — a 50-minute circuit-style class that blends weights, cardio, and stretching. This music-motivated workout is designed to help prepare the perinatal body for birth, recovery, and parenthood, and is appropriate for all stages and populations.
Please note: A doctor’s note is required stating that you are cleared for exercise before participating in this class.
-
Why can't I book a class day of?
Our classes close 12 hours before the start time if no one is signed up. This allows our instructors to plan and ensures every class runs smoothly.
If you’d still like to join a class day-of, give us a call at the studio — we’ll be happy to check if an instructor is available. Please note that same-day bookings aren’t guaranteed, but we’ll do our best to accommodate you!
-
How far in advance can I book a group class?
You can book your classes up to 21 days in advance directly through the HK Pilates website.
-
Can Pilates help with my back pain?
Yes — Pilates can be very effective for relieving and preventing back pain. Our classes focus on building core strength, improving posture, and increasing flexibility, all of which support and protect the spine.

What do I need for class?
For all of our classes, we provide all the equipment you’ll need — so there’s no need to bring your own mat.
For Reformer classes, grippy socks are required for safety and stability. If you don’t have a pair, no worries — we have them available for purchase in the studio.
For every class, just come with a bottle of water and be ready to move!
